One of the goals I set for myself is to save up $10K before the end of 2012 to fund my trip to Asia.
As we approach the end of Q3, I did some number crunching to see whether I would be receiving a bonus or not this quarter. So far things are looking good and if my calculations are correct, I have managed to reach my goal.
For the past couple of months the US dollar has been very weak making it a ripe environment for our businesses who import products/services from outside of Canada. A large portion of our importers either purchase these products from the US or China. Since the Greenback is the main base international currency, we generally only deal with companies who either buy or sell US dollars. We also deal with other major currencies such as Euros and the Great Britain Pound, but they are less substantial.
The last week was great for me because for the first time in months, the US dollar actually became significantly stronger than the Canadian dollar. This finally allowed our US exporters to have an opportunity to get more for their dollar. Because the volatility has been very high in the last few days, I've been able to make a good chunk of cash for my company.
My biggest feat was selling an Option that netted my company $15K in profit in one shot. It was the biggest deal I had ever made and although it may be peanuts to others, I was proud of myself.
There have been many stages in my job when I simply wanted to quit because I thought I would never make a bonus. But persistency and hard work has paid off.

When you continue to push yourself through the hardest of times, the universe feels your energy and often rewards you for it. I think this is very important for everyone to understand. Nothing comes easy in life, and if it does it generally doesn't last very long.
