I didn't really spend a whole lot of time looking for medical insurance for my 77 day trip to Asia/Southeast Asia. I checked a couple banks including RBC and TD, but made a quick decision to use President's Choice Financial because of the lowest cost.
The process was fairly easy. All you need to do is call the PC Medical Insurance department (1-800-826-0339), tell them where and how long you're travelling for, then they will provide you with a quote which can be held for up to 30 days (great if you'd like to shop around).
I told the representative that I was travelling to Japan, Korea, China, and a few South East Asian countries.
A very valuable piece of information to note is that anything that is labelled as *high risk* or *risky* by the Canadian government (can be seen on: http://www.voyage.gc.ca/countries_pays/menu-eng.asp) may disqualify you for coverage if something happens in one of these countries.
The total cost for my 77 day trip was = $221.
Making sure that you have insurance for your travels abroad is highly suggested.
