Pork Belly "Three Layer" Pork Strips (Samgyeopsal)

One of my fondest memories of Korea are from the intimate dining sessions of eating Samgyeopsal with others.

"Sam" (or "San) means three in Korean (also in Chinese and Japanese) and describes the amount of layers of the pork cut.

Beef and chicken is not as common in Korea as it is in Canada.  Because pork is more affordable, it is easily accessible.

Some of you may be thinking that pork is not the healthiest option as it contains a hefty amount of fat which is true, but once in a while it is worth it!

I bought tonight's dinner from a Korean grocery store by the name of Galleria.  This place is great for antibiotic free whole chickens.  If you go to Loblaws, it will cost you a ridiculous amount, but here you can find one for $10 or less.  I've noticed that the company Liberterre focuses on antibiotic and hormone free meats which can be accessible at select grocery store chains.

I'm not doing anything fancy with dinner and will just cut up the Samgyeopsal in pieces and fry them to a golden crisp on a pan.  With some vegetables, rice and Kimchi, you have a quick and easy meal!
