The following email was pulled out of my Hotmail archives. This was written to my friends in the first months in Osaka.

Hey guys!
I made it into Osaka! It feels like weeks have already gone by and I dont think Ive caught up on my jet lag. Oh well whatever. So far, things have been pretty crazy. Where do I start.. hmmm well first of all, i wish I could share all my pictures with all of you but this internet cafe wont let me install my camera software so youll have to wait.
The first day I got into Osaka, I went out with my flatmate who is from Australia. Hes a great character, and that bloody accent of his is hilarious. My other roommate is apparently off in Italy so Ive yet to meet him. Anyways, enough of the boring shit. The first night we went to this Bob Marley theme bar where there were alot of english teachers from all over: Scotland, Australia, USA, but not so many Canadians. They were really helpful, so i kept everyones contacts (which is highly suggested, especially when you have minimal knowledge of the Japanese language).
Lastnight I was hanging around a bunch of girls from the states who were also english teachers. Apparently theyre teaching in a really small island, so Osaka was pretty exciting for them. I felt bad for one of them because I made her puke up her Octopus balls (the japanese love this shit.. yuk). All it took was a recap of a Fear Factor episode. I didnt think shed ralf. Anyhow, by the end of the night, I hadnt realized that the subways were closed and that taxis were so damn expensive, I had to walk 2 hours to my apartment from downtown (which I will never do again). What an experience that was.
Today I met a girl from Germany who apparently got ditched by her friend, so she randomly tagged along with me for my day trip. Shes actually pretty good at speaking Japanese@. We walked around an area called `American Mua` or somethin like that. Its basically the American culture area, where ull see tons of hip hop stores. At the McDonalds I met a group of people from France who were feeling much of the 'Japanese culture shock' that Im currently experiencing. They were really nice and invited me to some french hip hop show. We ended our encounter by going into one of those crazy photo booths that asian girls love. That was a first for me.
This email is getting longer than I expected, but theres still so much to talk about. Anyhow, its saturday night and I plan to dance until 6 in da mornin! (thats when all the clubs close!). I will keep yall updated. Until then, Sayanora!!!"
