Generation Y

The pace of society is moving at an exponential rate. To think that the internet didn't even exist when I was a young lad is actually quite mind boggling.  What's more shocking is the fact that I learnt how to type on a typewriter.  I even had my own BBS (Bulletin Board System) that ran off of a 14.4K modem.

I watched movies on VHS and listened to music with a tape player.  My walkman didn't even have a rewind button.  I often had to blow into my Nintendo game cartridges before putting them into the machine just like every other kid did.  (For those who have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm not even going to bother explaining.)

I distinctly remember Contra's special code because it was engrained into my brain through repetition: up, up, down, down, left, right, left, right, B, A, B, A.  Without the 30 lives, I didn't stand a chance.

Michael Jackson was flipping hit singles like hamburgers at McDonalds.

My first skateboard literally felt like it weighed 100 lbs.

No Fear shirts were cool to wear.

No matter what anyone says,

I'm proud to be part of Generation Y.
